Choose the apps and categories that pull at you. PrayLock puts a prayer shield in front of them with Apple’s Screen Time, so opening one brings you to PrayLock first.
Read a few verses
Pray straight away, or choose Read and pray: swipe through three verses of Scripture, one at a time, and pray with what you read.
Pray, and they open
A short timed prayer, 30 seconds by default, and your apps unlock. In Daily Devotion they stay open until your daily reset; in Mindful Moments, for the session length you set.

Daily Devotion
Pray once a day to unlock your chosen apps. They stay unlocked until your daily reset time, then lock again until you pray the next day.
Before each session
Mindful Moments
Take a prayer break before each app session. Your apps unlock for the session length you set (10 minutes by default, anywhere from 5 to 60) and then lock again.

Read the PrayLock FAQ- How does the prayer lock work?
- During setup you choose which apps or categories to protect and give PrayLock Screen Time permission. When you try to open a protected app, you see a PrayLock screen instead of the app. Open PrayLock and pray through a short timed prayer (30 seconds by default; you can set anything from 5 seconds to 5 minutes), and your apps unlock. You can also choose Read and pray: read three Bible verses first, then pray.
- Can I read the Bible instead of scrolling?
- Yes. PrayLock's Bible tab is a verse feed: the whole World English Bible, one verse per screen, and you swipe up for the next verse, the same motion as a social feed. Key passages have study notes, and you can save or share the verses that stay with you.
- How much does PrayLock cost?
- PrayLock is free to download, with in-app purchases. The App Store listing notes that features such as daily scripture, prayer topics, prayer stats, shareable prayer quotes and prayer notes require a purchase. - Which devices does PrayLock work on?
- PrayLock is an iPhone app and needs iOS 18.0 or later. It is not available on Android, and there is no separate iPad or Apple Watch version.
